Jerry was a sales executive in a bank. He started working at a very early age. He enjoyed working as a sales executive but at the same time he was aware that without any professional qualification he could not get promoted. The managerial level jobs required college degree which he did not have. Off late he found it difficult to meet his sales targets and earn incentives. In the next quarter, the bank announced downsizing and he was one of the employees to get fired for poor performance. He was extremely dejected. Jerry tried to look for another job but couldn't manage to get one. His parents consoled him and asked him to use this opportunity and go back to school for further studies. He sat online and did a research on if he could receive unemployment benefits financial aid for further studies. He was happy to know that he was eligible for receiving both, benefits and aid. He didn't see the job loss as a negative thing now. Infact he felt that now after getting the degree he could apply for a higher designation. |
