Before learning any musical instrument, you must have an idea about the instrument. You have to identify the parts and functions of each an every part of an instrument. While learning piano you must understand the arrangement of keys on the piano. There are 88 keys present in the piano, out of 88 keys 36 are black and 52 are white piano keys. When we press any key on piano a hammer strikes the strings inside the instrument which results piano to produce music.
52 white keys of piano are basically used to produce natural notes while the remaining 36 black keys used to produce sharp or flat notes. The first which is located on the far left of the keyboard is note A while the last key located on the right side is note C.
Keys of piano are arranged in half scale and they are in chromatic order scale. The black and white keys are mostly located alternately but there are no black keys between B and C or E and F. That’s the reason behind why the number of black key is less then the number of white keys.
There is a common misconception exist in the mind of many people regarding the piano is that it is based on C scale. Well it’s not true you can play piano on any scale, all you have to do is to choose right starting point. For creating ascending notes you have to play left to right and for producing descending note just reverse the order i.e. from right to left.
You can learn more about the piano in these Music Lesson Plans on musical instruments. |
